Poker has always been one of the most popular casino games, and that’s no different in the online casino world. But for the novice player, the wide variety of poker games online can seem daunting. Poker is a game of strategy, but that doesn’t mean it has to be difficult! There are many variants that are super simple and a great place to start if you want to try your hand at poker.

Three Card Poker

Three card poker is great for beginners, as it is very straightforward and does not require learning any advanced strategies. It is also great for online betting as it is single-player by definition – rather than playing with competitors, you play against the dealer. Before beginning, you will need to place an ‘ante wager’. You and the dealer will then both be dealt three cards face down. After looking at your cards, you decide whether or not it is worth placing a wager. If you fold, the dealer collects the ante wager and any subsequent bets. If you play the hand, the cards are overturned, and if yours are better than the dealer’s, you win. It’s that simple!

Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em is one of the most popular poker variants and can be found in many online and mobile casinos. It may take time to master this game, but the rules are actually very simple. Online, you can play single-player or with up to 10 competitors. Before starting, two players to the left of the dealer lay forced bets known as ‘blinds’. Then, each player is dealt two cards and the betting begins. After the first round, the dealer deals three community cards to the middle of the table. All players can use these to complete their hands. Play continues, with the dealer adding a 4th and 5th community card with each round. At the end, the person with the best five-card hand wins.

Omaha

If you like the idea of Texas Hold’em but want more action, this is the game for you. The rules are basically the same as Texas Hold’em, except that you are dealt four cards instead of two. When making your five-card hand, you have to use exactly two of your cards as well as three community cards. Because of this, it’s much more likely that you and other players will have similar hands, giving you more opportunities to play. This makes Omaha action-packed and very fun!

Razz

Razz is a fun variant on traditional poker games, as the goal is to make the worst possible hand! The game begins with everyone placing an ante wager, and the player with the lowest card begins the action. Aces are considered low and flushes don’t count. The best possible hand is thus 5-4-3-2-Ace. Betting goes all the way to seventh street before players show their hands. This makes it a slower game to the others on this list, but it’s great for building experience in a more relaxed environment. With all these easy variants, there should be nothing stopping you from starting your poker journey!
